WELCOME to the Mineral Resources Authority (MRA) of Papua New Guinea (PNG).  This site provides all the information you require on the Minerals Sector in PNG. The Authority is a Government Agency; and all  functions executed are on behalf of the Government of PNG.

The Mineral Resources Authority was established through the enactment of the Mineral Resources Authority Act 2005 by Parliament. The Act came into effect on January 1 persuant to the Gazettal Notice No. G16 of 2006.

• provide a regulatory environment which maximizes mining opportunities to ensure optimal benefits for the people of Papua New Guinea.

MRA has participated in two international mining conferences, PDAC Toronto, Canada, in March 2008; and Mines & Money Hong Kong in June 2008. The Authority will participate in two more conferences; M&P Conference in Sydney and the Mines & Money London. Both are in 1-3 December 2008.

Locally, MRA participated in the last PNG-China Trade Investment Symposium, in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
