About the Mineral Resources Authority

WELCOME to the Mineral Resources Authority (MRA) of Papua New Guinea (PNG).  This site provides all the information you require on the Minerals Sector in PNG. The Authority is a Government Agency; and all  functions executed are on behalf of the Government of PNG.

The Mineral Resources Authority was established through the enactment of the Mineral Resources Authority Act 2005 by Parliament. The Act came into effect on January 1 persuant to the Gazettal Notice No. G16 of 2006.

The Managing Director (MD) is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Authority. He is the head of the staff of the Authority; and is responsible to the Board for the efficient carrying out of functions of the Authority. (Click to link to MD Page

The MRA Board's function is to exercise the powers, manage and direct the administrative affairs of the Authority. The Board consist of nine members (click to link to the full MRA Board Page)

1. Four representing the public sector and
2. Four representing the private sector with
3. The Managing Director being the ninth person
